This week has been a busy one. Due to two days that we had off from school last week that were not in fact holidays, this week we have seven days of class. On the bright side, during my second period class on Thursday, the Teacher took us over to the on campus gym where the fencing events were being held for The East Asian Games (essentially The Olympics of East Asia).
Since the last post, I was able to buy some antibiotics over the counter for about $5 USD and it got rid of all traces of being sick. Teaching is going well, but the textbook is incredibly dry and goes out of its way to use complex words. But, I am trying my best to keep it interesting. I gave the students my wechat username in case they have any questions about assignments, etc. and I found that they had posted some candid shots that they took in class.
A couple weeks ago on a particularly clear day, I paid a visit to the Tianjin Radio and TV Tower. The tower is about 1,300 feet tall and is visible from virtually the entire city.
Ancient culture street is a huge destination for locals and tourists alike. Among the souvenirs and food carts, there is an extensive jade section where you can buy both raw and finished stones.
A carnival style game which involves using an assault rifle to pop balloons. It was a little overkill if you ask me.
I was gouged out of 70元 for a ride on the Tianjin eye. In the end, it was a nice view and I got a few neat photos out of it. The eye itself is unique in that the bridge that supports it is also used to drive on.
