The end of this school week marks the Mid-Autumn/Moon festival which means that Thursday's classes will be cancelled and Friday's classes will be moved to Sunday. Apparently this practice is common here, "when in Rome..." or even more appropriately: 入乡随俗 (I just picked that one up yesterday and had to use it). I'm thinking about making a trip over to Beijing with some friends and poking around there for a day or two with the break.
In other news, I got picked up by the university to teach a Business English class to prepare students for a class to be offered in the near future in partnership with FIU (I just can't get away). My first class is being held today and I'll have to take the shuttle to the other campus which is about 45 minutes away.
As far as exploring Tianjin goes, this past weekend we paid a visit to Hisense plaza which is a high end designer mall. Several of the stores had live models as well as snacks and drinks which we were sure to visit.

On the basement level there is a supermarket that had a lot of imported goods from the US and UK, it was cool to see some familar brands besides Coca-Cola and McDonald's for once. One thing that caught my eye in this store was an employee who was fileting a salmon on the shopping floor, as opposed to behind glass as you would see in The US.
We also made another trip to Da Hu Tong and I found some more Chinglish goods.
A pair of Seminole pajama pants that we came across.
We got to try these biscuits that were filled with a mixture of beans and jam, I didn't catch the name of them but they were better than they sound.
